Galland has been present on the Chinese railway market for almost 30 years. In 2016, we made official the opening of a commercial structure in Suzhou, a city of 4 million inhabitants in the east of the country. Our team, which until now consisted of two people – Rémy Bouix and Jacky Bin Zhong – is being grown with the arrival of Liya Huang.

 

Interview with Rémi Bouix, sales manager for Asia:

Can you introduce your team?

“There are three of us. Jacky Bin Zhong, our salesman, has been in charge of local customer relations for 15 years. He has a very detailed knowledge of the market. Liya Huang joined us in December 2019: she is in charge of the administrative interface (import, logistics, orders and sales follow-up, marketing). As for me, after 5 years at La Lande de Fronsac, I took up the challenge of moving to China to develop our Chinese entity. I am also responsible of Asia.”

 

What are the professional profiles of Jacky Bin Zhong and Liya Huang?

“Jacky has more than 15 years of experience in the Chinese catenary industry. He has been working since Beijing and is active all over the country. Liya and I operate from Shanghai.

Liya obtained a Master’s degree in International Business in Bordeaux where we had already made his acquaintance. Indeed, Liya did her final internship at Galland in 2017. Recently, Liya and her husband decided to leave France to settle in China. Liya’s dual culture is an opportunity for us to better understand the specificities of the Chinese market and to assert our presence there; for example, we will be able to participate in more trade exhibitions.”

 

What is Galland’s situation in China?

“Galland’s commercial structuring in the country over the past few years is bearing fruit: after the projects have been completed, we now sell equipment for the maintenance and expansion phases. In China, around twenty networks are already equipped with Galland products. We are also present throughout Asia: in India, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Japan, notably through our agents and distributors network.”
